VEGANHOOD was created by Lanise & Janine to bring a familiar and relatable taste to our urban community that is 100% plant based. We saw a need in our neighborhood for food that was similar to what we grew up eating but instead of it being animals it needed to be 100% plant based. We thought “how could we get people to love vegan food when they believe that all vegans eat are leaves and water? How can we show them that a vegan lifestyle doesn’t have to be bland and that it can be tasty and healthier?
We knew we needed to show people better than we could tell them by creating dishes we ate at home and they themselves would make or order at restaurants. Things like our Saint Nick Fried Chick’n, soy free mac & cheese, and deserts like our Oreo puddings, comfort foods that’s filling and recognizable.
The 2020 covid -19 pandemic came and claimed the lives of thousands of people in NYC where we’re from. This prompted us to create VeganHood out of our office kitchen to help our community as fast as we could, offering wildcrafted sea moss gel to help build immune systems, VeganHood Total Tea which contains burdock root, sour sop leaves, elderberry and other herbs known to rid your body of sickness.
Our mission is to bridge veganism and the hood with delicious vegan food.
